Fishing at Panguitch Lake and in Southern Utah

Panguitch Lake is an excellent fishing destination and literally means "big fish." When full Panguitch Lake is 1,234 surface acres and up to 50 feet deep. The lake has been maintained by the Utah DWR to create a world class fishery over the years. There are 3 streams feeding into Panguitch Lake and there is a stream coming out of the lake that all offer opportunity. The lake freezes over and ice fishing can be very good at Panguitch. During the spring and summer the conditions and quality of the meat of the fish are at their best. Fly fishing at the Blue Springs side of the lake can offer more experienced anglers a challenge. Trolling the lake is usually a sure bet and even kids can catch large fish in this lake. Shore fishing can be a little more challenging and you need to know the right sections where the fish can be found.

Duck Creek, Navajo Lake and Mammoth Creek are all just within an hour drive away and offer some great stream and lake fishing for Brown, Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brook Trout. There are miles of fish filled river to fish on the Mammoth Creek. Within an hour or two's drive you can enjoy numerous other lakes, creeks, and ponds full of fish. Otter Creek, Piute Reservoir, and Fish Lake are just a few of the other great fishing spots in Southern Utah.

Always be sure to check current fishing proclamations for rules and regulations. These can be picked up at most Walmarts, bait shops, gas stations, etc. in the area. Also some waters on private property may be reserved for residents or land owners only, but there are plenty of fishing areas open to the public all over this area.
