ATV and Snowmobiling in Southern UtahCedar Mountain where Panguitch Lake is located is also known as the Markagunt Plateau and has hundreds of miles of atv, snowmobile and hiking trails. Some of the trails lead to incredible vistas overlooking pink cliffs, Zion Park, beautiful meadows and more. Trail improvements have been underway connecting Brian Head, Duck Creek, Mammoth Creek and Panguitch Lake. The Puite trail system in Southern Utah is a vast network of trails for even more to explore on you favorite ride. From the Pink Coral Sand dunes near Kanab, to the sand dunes at Sand Hollow State park, there is plenty of warm desert sand to kick up in Southern Utah also. Southern Utah has every kind of ATVing environment you could ask for. In the wintertime, these same trails become snowmobile trails and the high altitude meadows become a snowmobiling dream. The Cedar Breaks Monument and the meadows around it sit at 10,400 feet in elevation and have lots of snow through the months of October to April for enjoying your machines. Many of the local towns have designated trails the residents can use to get around town and access the trails on their atvs. Many of the state parks are atv friendly, and there are extensive trails throughout the Dixie and Fish Lake National Forests, but the Forest Service reminds everyone to stay on designated trails and off the meadows on ATVs. By stopping at any of the local gas stations or outfitters in the Duck Creek and Cedar Mountain areas, including the Forest Service visitors center, you can get the maps of the extensive trail system. Between Brian Head and Duck Creek there have been annual poker runs on ATVs between the two areas and hopefully more events like this will happen in the future.
